Job Description

Organizes and direct those activities involved in the procurement of raw materials, warehouse organization, and the sequencing and delivery of finished seats to our Customer.  The Materials Manager is part of the Materials department and reports to the Plant Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Responsible for all material flow into the plant from the point of release at GM to material usage by customer.
Coordinate the activities of the Materials departments
Monitor cost of incoming freight and its reduction.
Operate department within the operating budget
Control level of inventory to ensure plant hits its DOH targets.
Control releases to minimize obsolescence while supporting customer’s requirements.
Assure adherence to the collective bargaining agreement.
Follow ISO14001 and TS16949 procedures/processes.
Contribute to the achievement of quality/management objectives by ensuring that correct part numbers are delivered to the line in a safe and timely manner as required.
Responsible for weekly GM service requirements.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
It is the responsibility of the Materials Manager to take appropriate action and to effectively communicate where necessary and observations which may impact AA LLC’s ability to manufacture a quality product and to achieve an on time delivery. 
Manage the Assistant Materials Manager, Materials Specialists, and Materials Schedulers.
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA); five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear.
The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
