Assistant Controller
SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in calculating, posting and verifying accounting data to obtain and record financial statements and statistical records.  The Assistant Controller is part of the Finance department and reports to the Controller.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Assist with forecasting plant sales and operating income and explain variances to budget.
Assist with forecasting weekly/quarterly free cash flow.
Assist with preparing the annual budget and long range plan.
Assist with preparing quarterly attest packages and year end package.
Maintain inventory reconciliations and review scrap analysis.
Analyze and maintain reserves for all identifiable plant liabilities including customer pricing accruals and LTA’s.
Coordinate month-end and year-end closings, and prepare monthly/quarterly reports and financial statements.
Maintain fixed asset records.
Act as liaison for internal and external audits and work with Controller to resolve plant audit issues.
Prepare and analyze the reconciliations of all General Ledger accounts.
Assist Controller with the preparation of special projects as needed.
Assume Controller’s responsibilities in their absence.
Act as plant Sarbanes-Oxley champion.
Actively participate in self-directed work team model.
Follow ISO14001 and TS16949 procedures/processes.
Participate in plant recycling programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Contribute to the achievement of quality/management objectives by optimizing cash flow to support company processes.
Actively participate in the health and safety program.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in managing Accountant/Payroll Administrator and Receptionist.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S. /B.A.) in Accounting or Finance; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
