Job Description

Directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of company product(s) by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate team coaches/specialists.
The Plant Superintendent is part of the Production department and answers to the Production Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Confer with management personnel to establish production and quality standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
Plan and direct production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
Coordinate production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine caused of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
Develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
Revise production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
Consult with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
Conduct meeting to resolve grievances or refer unresolved grievances to next step.
Assure adherence to the collective bargaining agreement.
Compile, store, and retrieve production data.
Responsible for housekeeping of the plant floor.
Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.
Actively participate in self-directed work team model.
Participate in plant recycling programs.
Follow ISO14001 and TS16949 procedures/processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Contribute to the achievement of quality/management objectives by producing product to meet customer needs and expectations.
Health and Safety:
Provides the leadership and direction essential to maintain the health and safety policy.
Evaluates the health and safety performance of subordinate supervisors.
Insists that safe work procedures be established and the employees follow these procedures and apply good judgment to the hazardous aspects of all tasks.
Participates in regular tours of the plant to observe health and safety conditions and provide positive reinforcement and instruction.
Ensures that prompt corrective action is taken whenever hazards are recognized or unsafe acts are observed.
It is the responsibility of the Production Superintendent to take appropriate action and to effectively communicate where necessary and observations which may impact AA LLC’s ability to manufacture a quality product and to achieve an on time delivery.  Individual actions which should be taken into account are as follows:
Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformances related to product, process and quality systems.
Identify and record any problems related to the product, process and quality system.
Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
Verify implementation of solutions.
Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
Manage subordinate Team Coaches/Specialists who supervise production employees.
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS); three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journal, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
