Job Description

Integral aspect of the Materials Department and directly interfaces with the entire materials department, production department, quality department, maintenance department and the engineering departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Supervision and coordination of work activities of hourly production employees.
Interpret and enforce company policies and safety regulations.
Establish or adjust manpower to meet production schedules.
Analyze and resolve work problems or assist employees in solving work problems.
Administer disciplinary action as needed.
Maintain time and production records.
Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and problem resolution/general maintenance of machinery.
Understand cycle count process as well as FIFO.
Assure the floor is following FIFO procedure so breakpoints can be attained.
Review inventory levels to assure material availability.
Communicate issues affecting material flow to management personnel.
Responsible for safe, timely, accurate shipments to Customer
Responsible for reporting/resolution of all issues affecting material handling equipment (i.e. forklifts, trailers, tractors, etc.).
Understand our storage of material and window times for the different loads of incoming material.
Conduct meeting to resolve grievances or refer unresolved grievances to next step.
Assure adherence to the collective bargaining agreement.
Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.
Follow ISO14001 and TS16949 procedures/processes.
Contribute to the achievement of quality/management objectives by providing accurate part numbers to the line in a safe and timely manner as requested.
Health and Safety:
Be knowledgeable of the plant safety rules and ensure all employees perform their duties in compliance with the rules and regulations.
Consistently and fairly enforce the safety rules and safe work procedures.
Provide continuous on the job instruction in safe work procedures and instruct employees in the use and care of personal protective equipment.
Respond to safety concerns and ensure hazards are corrected as soon as possible.
Perform accident investigations to identify the root cause in the required time frame and track corrective actions to completion.
It is the responsibility of the Materials Specialist to take appropriate action and to effectively communicate where necessary and observations which may impact AA LLC’s ability to manufacture a quality product and to achieve an on time delivery.  Individual actions which should be taken into account are as follows:
Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformances related to product, process and quality systems.
Identify and record any problems related to the product, process and quality system.
Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
Directly supervise hourly production employees.
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Associate’s degree (AA/AS.); two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear.
The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and high, precarious places.
